IKEA , the world's leading home furnishings retailer, announced July 2006 it will open its first Ohio store in West Chester. The 339,000 square foot store will be built on 56 acres along I-75 at the southeastern corner of Allen and Muhlhauser Roads (Union Centre Boulevard District). IKEA West Chester will feature three model homes, 50 display rooms, supervised children's play area, and 300-seat restaurant serving Swedish specialties. Construction will begin Fall 2006 on this $30+M project with an anticipated opening Fall 2007 with approximately 400 employees.
