West Chester getting another new hotel, event center

A groundbreaking ceremony is planned Aug. 27 to launch construction on a new West Chester hotel and event center.

Centre Park at 5800 Muhlhauser Road is expected to feature a 130-room Holiday Inn, a 650-guest, 37,000-square-foot event and banquet center, restaurant Johnny's Italian Steakhouse and a lounge named the Blue Bar.

The ceremony is planned at 4 p.m. and the companies say several political leaders have been invited to attend the event.

Beavercreek-based Middletown Hotel Management and Mason-based HiFive Development Services are developing the site. Construction crews have been active on the site for several weeks to prepare the site for above-ground construction. The project is expected to open in fall 2015.

The hotel will also feature an indoor pool and hot tub. The West Chester restaurant will be Johnny's Italian Steakhouse first Ohio location, according to Middletown Hotel Management.

Leaders of Middletown Hotel Management believe the new center could create 135 full- and part-time jobs.

The building is envisioned as being an "green" hotel that features LED lighting, a rooftop energy management system to control heating and air, and acoustical separation to minimize noise among other features.

Middletown Hotel Management, which has about 200 employees, owns and operates several Marriott, Hilton, and IHG Brand hotels in the Columbus, Cincinnati, and Dayton areas. Middletown Hotel Management worked with Arizona-based commercial real estate lender Avana Capital to help finance the project.
