The opening of the Union Centre Boulevard in December 1997 brought a dramatic change in the development pattern in the greater Cincinnati area. Union Centre Boulevard has quickly become the preferred business location in the tri-state region. Since the opening of the interchange more than 25 years ago, West Chester has reaped more than $3.9 billion in new investment, more than 46 million square feet in new construction, and nearly 46,000 new jobs.

Technology Developments

Information Technology (IT) is one of the fastest growing industries in today's economy, and the IT industry benefits from West Chester's strategic location capitalizing on record business growth.  West Chester's central position in the Cincinnati-Dayton Metroplex provides IT companies convenient access to Ohio's Fortune 500 companies.  Some of the major technology businesses located in West Chester include:  Rite Track, Synchrony, Convergence, Electronic Merchant Systems, E Tech Group, Access Information Systems, Verizon, Spectrum, Antenen Robotics, Conexus Technologies, KC Robotics, Flexential, Denso Robotics, Synergy Consulting Group and Xetron.

Projects include two Procter & Gamble research and development facilities at their Beckett Ridge Technical Center, an 860,000 square foot office/distribution/retail facility for Cornerstone Consolidated Group, and a 760,000 square foot Class A office park developed by Duke Realty. These projects along with others have created nearly 26,000 in the Union Centre district alone. 

The "Vision" of Union Center Boulevard was to create a new development that possessed the "Attention to Details" necessary to create an interchange and development unrivaled throughout the entire region. 

The phrases "Attention to Detail" and "Vision" have driven the Union Centre Boulevard development since the early planning stages. Examples of these details include a customized safety fence on the bridge overpass, featuring the Union Centre logo, the completion of Union Centre Boulevard as a limited access landscaped median road to enhance traffic flow, color coordination of the bridge, integrated closed looped traffic signals, and customized landscape plan for the interchange area. 

To continue the "Vision" of the Union Centre development, a new zoning classification was created to enhance and encourage the unique mixed-use development that will occur at Union Centre. This new zoning classification, designated as "Central Business District", will include benefits such as pedestrian walkways and signage and landscaping standards that will create a highly desirable, cohesive development.
